History

The LLA Argyle team, from left Lee Bevan, Chris Schweder and Michele Theron-Jansen.
LL Argyle was founded by Les Argyle, initially a buyer and seller of gold and silver Jewellery
Les bought his metal from the local market and also jeweller’s lamel and sweeps, exporting the material and having the returns sent back to him in square wire.By using his import license he was also successfully selling diamonds sourced through dealers in London.
Years later the company became North Island agents for settings imported by McMahon & Lee, as well as sellers of settings purchased from Matthey Garret (UK).
Les traded on his own until Richard Schweder joined him in 1972.
Richard had Years of experience in the jewellery industry as the manager of Stewart Dawson in Christchurch and Auckland.
After Les died in 1975, Richard continued to manage the company on behalf of the Argyle family, until purchasing it in 1979.
Richard started to concentrate more on coloured stones, diamonds and findings.
The business prospered and Richard and his wife Pauline enjoyed working in this industry.
By 1998 it came as a natural transition for their son Chis to take over the business. As a manufacturing jeweller he understood the needs of the jewellery industry very well.
Today Chris continues to run LLA Findings from Howick, assisted by Michele Theron-Jansen and Lee Bevan.
After many years in business LLA Findings understands the importance of strong business relationships earned through having the right products, large stocks and good value.
